Are you an experienced Warehouse Shift Manager that is looking for a change of scene? Are you passionate about Continuous Improvement and have the ability to notice and improve processes and procedures?

Due to our exceptional growth and massive expansion plans for the near future we are looking for an ASH & CI (Accidents, Holiday and Sickness & Continuous Improvement) Shift Manager to join our friendly team in our Burnley Distribution Centre.

With ever growing number of customers around the world, we have been expanding our distribution network  and the footprint of our DC every year. We are embarking on the new chapter, with a purposely built semi-automated warehouse going live in the next year and a lot of challenging projects that should keep us busy for many years to come.

The purpose of the role is to cover absence, sickness and holidays for managers across Outbound (pick/pack/despatch), Inbound & Returns departments between days and night shift therefore a flexible approach is required.

The ‘ASH’ & CI Manager will work with the departmental and operations management team to increase productivity, introduce change and forward planning, improve management reporting whilst liaising with both internal and external departments.

The standard hours for the role are Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm. When cover is needed the shift would change to either 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am on 3 on/3 off shift rota. Majority of the cover is through holidays and therefore is planned in advance.

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership: Daily management of compliance to departmental processes via comprehensive SOP’S and Training Guides across all departments therefore a full understanding of each department is required.

Project Management and Continuous Improvement: Identify and develop the implementation of improved working practices and continuous improvement of the Burnley DC.

Daily management reporting: Collate & check data. Publish to management. Analyse and react to data within the processing reports. Produce other reports as required. Maintain & publish KPI reports.

Liaising with internal/outside agencies: To form strong relationships with departmental leaders within Boohoo both in Burnley DC and Manchester Head Office. To publish and issue information to all internal/external departments. To instigate and project manage process upgrades with Imports, I.T, QC and Buying/Merchandising Departments.

Budget Control: To work with a departmental budget to control costs of staffing, systems improvement, expansion planning.

Training: Control & recording of operational training of staff. Arranging training as required with internal or external agencies. Control & recording of 5S auditing.

Managing Objectives: Achieve company & departmental KPI’s set out by Boohoo Senior Management, setting goals with the aid of KPI’S for your Team to allow sustained performance growth. Working with senior members of operations team on the requirements and planning of WMS system.

The Person
  • Experienced in running and overseeing shifts within the warehouse environment, preferably in an e-commerce setup
  • Good WMS knowledge
  • Keen to oversee and implement Continuous Improvements initiatives 
  • Ideally with exposure to automation within e-commerce distribution centre
  • Understanding of different departments within warehouse, ideally from outbound and inbound perspective
