We are looking for a Solicitor specialising in Data Protection to ensure our group is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR.)

The key responsibilities include advising on our compliance with GDPR, co-ordinating advice in relation to overseas legislation. In addition you will be monitoring our adherence to legal guidance and acting as a point of contact with supervisory authorities and data subjects. You will also create policies that enforce compliance with legislation and deliver GDPR training to our staff to increase awareness of data protection measures.

To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of GDPR and its regulatory framework and be familiar with our industry and the nature of its data processing activities. You will also work with our audit team to ensure compliance within our policies and procedures.

Ultimately, you will facilitate GDPR compliance through transparent data protection policies, systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the data protection office in relation to all data protection matters
  • Act as point of contact within the boohoo group and champion data protection across the group
  • Identify and evaluate the group’s data processing activities
  • Provide advice and instructions on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Data Processor Agreements
  • Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the company
  • Participate in meetings with managers to ensure privacy by design at all levels
  • Help the group to maintain records of processing operations
  • Liaise with other organisations that process data on our behalf
  • Write and update detailed guides on data protection policies
  • Work with our audit team and determine whether we need to alter our procedures to comply with regulations
  • Offer consultation on how to deal with privacy breaches
  • Arrange and deliver training on GDPR compliance for employees
  • Follow and implement changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor of 2/3 years PQE
  • Experience in data protection and legal compliance
  • Solid knowledge of data protection regulations and GDPR
  • Knowledge of data processing operations and familiarity with information security systems
  • Organisational skills with attention to detail
