Distribution and CS Finance Business Partner

Job Summary:

The Job holder is responsible for providing finance support in relation to inbound and outbound carriers and customer services. This will involve working alongside internal stakeholders across the Group Carrier Logistics and Customer Services teams as well as various Group suppliers.


Tasks, duties & responsibilities:

  • Produce weekly and monthly commercial reporting, pro-actively looking for opportunities to improve reporting and analysis to better support stakeholders
  • You will identify the key cost drivers of the departments and work closely with senior management to improve financial performance
  • Full reconciliation of weekly reporting to monthly actuals, as well as detailed variance analysis of management accounts to forecast and budget.
  • Implement invoice validation procedures for carrier invoices to ensure accuracy, with potential to move to self-billing in the future.
  • Lead the finance support for carrier tenders, quantifying the impact of rate changes and advising the business on the best options.
  • Measure carrier SLAs and work with the Finance & Business Analyst to manage claims for carrier failure
  • Produce annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts for carriage, customer services and refunds, as well as providing detailed explanation for movements between forecasts
  • Provide group weekly forecasts to carriers to assist in capacity planning
  • Pro-actively investigate drivers of customer contact as well as regularly challenging and supporting Customer service senior management team as and where required
  • Work alongside analytics and BI functions to drive improvements in insight, reporting and processes.
  • Other ad hoc analysis, project work and reporting as required.



  • ACA/CIMA/ACCA (or equivalent) qualified
  • Strong commercial acumen and business awareness
  • Comfortable dealing with and influencing senior business stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to manipulate and present data to produce meaningful information
  • Experience in logistics, retail or ecommerce
