This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing Health and Safety team within an online fashion retailer with Head Quarters based in Manchester. Job Summary


The trainer will work as part of the Health and Safety team and will report to the Group Health and Safety Manager. They will train, assess and deliver a full range of nationally recognised health and safety qualifications varying from level one to level four, first aid to IOSH Managing safely. They will also develop and train bespoke in-house courses through engaging and interactive blended learning, using a variety of assessment methods including online training.

They will evaluate the success and impact of training delivered, complete internal reports and documentation within specified timescales. They will also liaise with awarding bodies and obtain centre approval ensuring they supply all relevant documentation and maintain internally.    


Whilst this role will be based in Manchester, there will be a requirement to travel nationally & internationally to our other group locations.


Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities


  • Maintain up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation within the UK and Overseas
  • Deliver all relevant H&S training across the business in line with current Health and Safety legislation which may require delivering training offsite
  • Maintain knowledge of business processes in all areas within the business
  • Working with business leads you will identify relevant specific training requirements around different areas of this business
  • Undertake development as required to advance personal training skills.
  • If additional learning and development needs are identified outside of the training remit, escalate these to the Group Health and Safety Manager
  • Complete and rate and mark assessments
  • Design and develop bespoke training for particular areas within the business and produce materials for delivery
  • Assist the company with preparing for relevant audits
  • May liaise with UK and Overseas Lawyers to ensure fully complaint in certain areas within the business.
  • Training Administration
    • Administration of booking training rooms, sending out calendar invites containing full details on requirements
    • Prepare all paperwork and handouts for training events
    • Liaise with awarding bodies to organise certifications
    • Maintain electronic training documents including the uploading of certificates on our H&S software in a timely manner
    • Review training records and highlight when training is due to expire and organise renewals/refreshers.
    • Produce concise reports/summaries of training progress and outcomes to training
    • Request feedback from training sessions


    • Accurately, quickly, and clearly answer questions related to your area of focus.


    • Organise and deliver further development training within the H&S department to allow for personal development within the team



  • Supports senior Managers as required with coordination of H&S and Statutory training
  • Build and maintain close and effective relationships with all areas of business
  • Monitor compliance with Health and Safety Standards across the Group and when necessary take corrective action promptly where rules or standards are not met
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned to you from time to time by the Group Health and Safety Manager.

  • Works in a safe and responsible manner, within the framework of legislation and workplace specific policies.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of Health and safety legislation
  • Have appropriate knowledge of current H&S legislation


    What you will need…

  • Previous experience working in a Health & Safety Trainer role or within the Safety Training sector
  • Be flexible and happy to work across company sites.
  • Be able to deliver memorable and informative training courses to a range of people, including senior leaders
  • Have previous experience in a wide range of training levels
  • Be able to prioritise and organise work efficiently
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Attends training, meetings and other events as requested by direct manager or senior management
  • Assists the Health and Safety Team by completing tasks outside own job role when requested.
  • Maintains own working area in a professional and organised manner.
