Job Summary

We’re looking for an engaged and motivated Market Insight Analyst to join our growing BI team based in Manchester. The role of the Market Analyst is to support the PLT BI Strategy and act as a Business Partner across key functions to ensure delivery of the required reporting, analysis and insight needs.


Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Market and customer insight generation (identifying and collecting appropriate customer, competitor and market data such as pricing, market share, proposition changes, etc)
  • Join up insights from across different sources to provide the business with a holistic understanding of the market
  • Working with external agencies and data providers, ensuring timely delivery of relevant and actionable insights
  • Design and deliver periodic reporting highlighting trends and monitoring KPIs
  • Be able to communicate analysis outputs to wider teams within PLT to help support delivery
  • Apply industry knowledge to interpret data and improve performance
  • Bring passion about the PLT brand, customer and digital experience
  • Work alongside Marketing, CRM, Merchandising and Digital teams to be able improve reporting and analysis
  • Build systems/processes to transform raw data into actionable business insights
  • Proven experience in an analytical/insight role
  • Solid experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Problem solving aptitude, attention to detail and strong organisational capability
  •  Strong system skills (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in the proactive & timely production of weekly/monthly reporting
  • Highly analytical, and ability to turn data into actionable insights
  • Flexible & Resilient
  • SQL Server (currently use 2012)
  • Ecommerce / Online / Marketing – understanding of Google Analytics / Big Query / customer behaviour / customer metrics (e.g. active, frequency, retention etc)
  • Advanced Excel
  • Strong analytical skills combined with strong commercial acumen


  • Power BI experience or similar (e.g. Tableau / QlikSense/ Cognos etc)
  • Commercial experience with an understanding of ecommerce, retail or FMCG data / information requirements
  • Stakeholder management and a general appreciation of stakeholder analysis and reporting needs


  • Is an ambassador for the brand.
  • Attends training, meetings and other events as requested by direct manager or senior management
  • Assists colleagues by completing tasks outside of own job role when requested, including supporting associated companies
  • Maintains own working area in a professional and organised manner
  • Always strives to improve the department’s operation and increase knowledge of own and related job functions
