Job Summary
 
To supervise the day to day running of the QA hub based in the Leicester Boohoo office. To control and maintain Boohoo’s reputation around quality and fit of product.

To work closely with the HO Technical department as well as QA dept to deliver product that meets the agreed standard; eliminating issues and queries that could hinder the on- time delivery of stock; working to the business timescales and critical path. 

To build a strong working relationship with the suppliers contributing to smoother and more efficient approval process. Improving the supplier’s knowledge and understanding of Boohoo requirements. With your team approve fits as instructed; conduct AQL audits and pre-shipment samples to ensure they conform to Boohoo standards

           

Tasks, duties, responsibilities & skills:

  • To supervise a small QA team based in Leicester working as a support to the Technical team at H/O.
  • Set the weekly agenda for the team ensuring the key suppliers are reviewed and supported.
  • Visit suppliers and evaluate the quality and fit of production helping to achieve the on time delivery of production.
  • Ensure that both you and your teams are impartial in your decision making and are consistent in your decision making.
  • To liaise with the QA department on quality issues and work with the factories to ensure these are carried out.
  • Through technical knowledge and the information available set and establish the correct level of quality within the factories.
  •  To ensure all product is made to the correct specifications and quality standards are maintained by supplier.
  • To manage non-compliance issues: needle controls, label controls, testing requirements as and when required
  • Focus on the top 20 suppliers by value and volume to ensure blocks Patterns  and workbooks are adhered to.
  •  Work with suppliers to implement effective, efficient quality and construction methods for quicker through put times
  • To effectively manage all technical and quality control aspects during supplier visits
  •  To manage the process of roving QA Inspection  through close  interaction with the QA department
  • To ensure Management reports are delivered and fully reflect the status and progress of each factory.
  • To ensure issues are highlighted and relevant departments are made aware of the issue before they escalate into bigger problems.
  • To contribute to the QA department, to work collaboratively with the supply base in order to meet KPI’s set by the Head of Technical team.
  • To work co-operatively with others, creating and maintaining team spirit / morale within the organisation to achieve a common goal.
  • To role model the Company values and support corporate and warehouse policies and objectives.
  • To carry out any other duties as required

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Quality and Technical knowledge gained preferably within fast paced retail and  supplier environment
  • Must have experience of manufacturing, textiles and garment construction
  • Sound technical knowledge with pattern-making experience
  • Understanding and extensive knowledge of garment construction
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and coping with pressure 
  • Understanding of quality control processes
  • Product technical knowledge
  • Experience of supervising quality control within a supply base environ

  • Have the ability to work alone as well as in a team
  • Ability to respond product queries clearly and effectively
  • Flexible approach to be able to adjust to the constantly changing needs of the business
  • Ability to convey quality and technical information clearly in layman’s terms
